Hello and welcome!
Welcome to my little corner of the Hop Press nascent publishing empire! My name is Jon Abernathy and I was asked by Mario of Brewed for Thought and RateBeer to become one of the Hop Press Featured Writers, along with a great group of bloggers from around the world. It was an intriguing offer and I realized I couldn’t pass it up.
I’ve been blogging about beer for five years, been drinking and brewing good beer for far longer, and I hope to bring some really exciting stuff to Hop Press in the weeks to come.My own featured articles will appear on Saturdays, though I hope to post more often than that. I live in Bend, Oregon, one of the great beer regions of the United States (I would even go so far as to suggest the world), and while many of my posts will very likely be Oregon-centric I’m just as happy writing about beer no matter where it’s from.
I am a homebrewer as well, since the mid-90s, though I’m an extract-based brewer: time and money tend to work against me in the move to all-grain, and truth be told, I’m happy enough with extract brewing—and I’m pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. But don’t worry, I know my way around an all-grain setup.
And I definitely know beer. But the great thing is, I’m always learning, too—the adage is true: the more I know, the more I realize how little I truly know.
Don’t forget to check out the other Hop Press writers too:
