About Jon Abernathy
Hi! My name is Jon Abernathy and I’m one of the new Hop Press Featured Writers.
Before this gig, I’ve been writing for years under my own beer blog, The Brew Site, as well as two others: Hack Bend (regional guide to Bend, Oregon) and chuggnutt.com (my longtime personal blog, sadly much-neglected these days).

I’ve been drinking and brewing good beer since sometime in the mid-90s, and I’ve loved writing about it these last five years at my blog, so naturally when the chance to write for Hop Press came up, it seemed like a perfect fit.
Some of my favorite styles of beer include:
- American Amber Ales
- Barleywines
- Pumpkin Beers
- Saisons and Bières de Garde
- Doppelbocks
But you know, I can get along with pretty much any beer.
I live in Bend, Oregon, in the great Pacific Northwest—great because this is beer country; there is never a shortage of great, diverse, local beers to choose from.
I’ll be posting under my “Featured Writer” status every Saturday, but I’ll try to post interesting things in the meantime, too. And don’t forget to check out The Brew Site while you’re at it.
Thanks!
